About Our Pastor

Our Extraordinary Pastor

Quanidos McGowen

In 2004 Quanidos began to heed the nudging in his heart and began to dive deeply into the Word of God. God had given him the aspiration and it was quickly confirmed by many others in ministry. He quickly began serving and volunteering at Second Baptist Church as part of the New member team, he served as the Director of Men’s bible study classes and served on the Pastoral care team for over 10 years.

He was Ordained as a Deacon in 2006 and after serving in every aspect of Christian ministry, in 2007, becoming fully convinced that this was God’s plan, Quanidos, was hired for the position of Pastor on the Pastoral Care staff at Second Baptist Church under the leadership and teaching of Dr. Ed Young, Sr., where he served for over 14 years. Pastor Quanidos McGowen was passionate about teaching the “Good News of Jesus Christ” and formed a new class at Second Baptist church called Kingdom Citizens, where he taught on the principles of living a life as a Citizen of God’s Kingdom.

Thru this ministry he saw many families experiencing the power of life- changing discipleship through worship, fellowship, Christian education and outreach under his faithful and effective leadership. Pastor McGowen has also served for many years as Volunteer Pastor at TDCJ Hightower Prison Unit (Dayton, TX) and as a Jail Chaplain for the Harris County Jail (Houston, TX).

In August 2022, thanks to the sacrifice of generations past and present, Pastor McGowen answered God’s call as he was appointed as Pastor of  The Ark of Life Ministries, in his hometown of Dayton, TX for such a time. This is a great moment for The Ark and as Pastor Quanidos D. McGowen and First Lady, Djuna McGowen answers this calling to faithfully lead the congregation as he passionately teaches how to effectively live in the kingdom, on earth as it is in heaven. Pastor McGowen has been married to Djuna McGowen for over 38 years. Together they have 2 children and 6 grandchildren.
